Business like flowers

The rose belongs to a group of flowers named Rosaceae and is considered the most profitable business in the world, as the rose is utilized every day for various events. There are distinctive techniques of growing roses in the world: in open fields, indoors, in pottery, on terraces, etc. Besides, rose is a heat-loving plant and herewith, is grown in more tropical and subtropical areas. The most impeccable degree for the growth of roses varies between 15C and 28C. During the blossom period, roses should receive at least 6 hours of sunlight. Therefore, weather conditions are much essential for the development of this plant. People have created different types of roses. One of them is the "Modern Garden Rose" variety. It has been cultivated since 1867. This type of rose is very similar to the "Old Garden Rose" type. One of the most popular roses in the world which possess lots of demands is known as David Austin. In some places, it is called “England Roses”. This type was created 50 years ago. English rose is very delicate and, unlike other types of roses, is intolerant to natural diseases. Another intriguing type of rose is the Chinese rose, which belongs to the group of hybrid flowers. These flowers were introduced to Western countries in the 18th century. Chinese rose differs from other types of roses by blooming twice a year, having colorful varieties and resistance to diseases. In addition, it should be noted that the Chinese rose has a unique fragrance. After our country gained independence, the severance of ties between the former Soviet republics, difficulties in gas and energy supply dealt a major blow to the flower business in Azerbaijan. Large flower greenhouses around Baku changed their profile and specialized in the production of vegetables, especially tomatoes and cucumbers. As a consequence, we had to import millions of dollars’ worth of flowers used in large-scale landscaping. According to the State Statistics Committee, in 2020 to make a bouquet of roses from abroad to Azerbaijan in the amount of more than $ 3 million 71 thousand, as well as fresh roses, cut fresh carnations, cut fresh orchids, cut fresh chrysanthemums, cut for useful or decorative purposes, fresh lilies, cut fresh gladiolus and other cut flowers were brought. The geography of rose imports is also very wide. Therefore, Azerbaijan imports flowers from many countries - from Ecuador, Kenya, as well as, from the Netherlands, Belgium and Colombia. For instance, in 2020, our country bought 1,630 fresh roses from Ecuador for $ 1, 39888000, suitable for making bouquets or for decorative purposes. About 10,000 of the same flowers were brought from Abyssinia, about 22,000 from India, about 167,000 from Kenya, 138,000 from Colombia and 477,000 from the Netherlands. In January and February 2021, the volume of flower imports amounted to $ 1.98 million. However, the ban on assemblies due to the coronavirus pandemic in 2020 has led to a decline in flower imports. Thus, in 2019, various flowers worth more than $ 6.4 million were imported to Azerbaijan. However, despite the recent radical socio-political, economic and social changes in our country and the world, flower production in Azerbaijan is once again coming to the fore, and flower growers, importers and exporters have united in a single entity. This organization is called the Azerbaijan Flower Producers, Importers and Exporters Association Public Union. A statement issued by the Public Union of the Association said that roses play a key role in the floriculture industry in the market: There are now four largest greenhouse complexes in Azerbaijan that produce roses. These complexes produce roses industrially. These are Az-Roza greenhouses in Zira, Azerbaijan Flowers Company in Gala village, Azrose in Gabala, and AzAqro in Shamkir. More than half of Azerbaijan's total floriculture sector produces flowers produced by these industries. They produce roses. We can also say that flowers such as tulips and gerberas are available in our domestic market. "
