Exporting roses to Russia and Georgia from Shamkir

It is especially important to increase the activity of entrepreneurs, to improve the quality of products produced in the country, to expand the volume and range of products, to create favorable conditions for meeting domestic demand on behalf of local production.
AzAgro LLC implements a centralized cropping management system based on the application of innovative methods in Saritapa village of Shamkir district.
AzAgro LLC was established in 2008, and since 2010 has been a subsidiary of Synergy Group LLC, focusing on the organization of greenhouse crop production.
AzAgro LLC's greenhouses have been growing roses on 1 hectare of land since September 2012 using drip irrigation technology. The greenhouse is well-equipped to meet the latest requirements. Flowers are grown in mineral soilless culture substrates.
Irrigation, heating, ventilation, temperature control, cooling, etc. processes are fully automated. The automated system enhances to grow products in full compliance with international standards.
To expand greenhouses within the country, the Small and Medium Business Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan provided consulting and legal advice services, cooperation with relevant government agencies, information on state support mechanisms, and access to them.
The new project has been implemented by Prior Leasing as one of the main investors of the project. 2.3 million manats has been invested in the project. The company gets funding from the State Agrarian Credit and Development Agency and finances and leases projects related to agricultural development.
The greenhouse previously had an annual production capacity of one million flowers, but since the new greenhouse opened, flower production has increased to 3 million. At present, AzAgro has started exporting products.
It is expected that 1 million flowers will be exported annually from Shamkir to Russia and Georgia. The new greenhouse meets the demand within the country, and it also reduces prices.
Also, the new expansion of the greenhouse contributed to increasing employment within the region. Previously 41 people have worked there, currently, it is 71 people made up mainly of women.
