Rules for planting fruitful potatoes
As you know, obtaining high quality and fruitful potatoes depends on a combination of healthy seeds, a suitable seed bed and careful planting. When it comes to planting right:
- The right planting time;
- Planting at optimal density;
- Planting at equal and correct depths (such planting can be done by trained tractor drivers);
- It is very important to take into account the actual conditions in the field and to properly calculate the results of the relevant selection.
Soil structure:
In a good seed bed, the ratio of air, moisture and soil should be optimal. Subsequent conditions will allow for simultaneous access and comfortable development of the potato plant. The seed bed should be flat, free of stones, have a soft soil layer, hardness and moisture that allow plowing. After selecting the area for planting, it is necessary to analyze the composition of the soil. To ensure adequate moisture, the soil at the bottom should not impede unimpeded root growth.
Which seeds should we use?
To determine which seed is more suitable, we need to decide for what purpose we will use the product. The appropriate production purpose and harvesting time determine which seeds we will use. Potatoes are grown mainly vegetatively. The optimum temperature for normal growth should be 12-18 degrees. Demands moisture. Especially during the intensive development of the trunks, the need for water increases. It is recommended to irrigate potatoes planted in early spring 6-8 times during the growing season. It takes 50-60 days for early maturing varieties, 60-80 days for medium maturing varieties, and 80-100 days for late maturing varieties. It is not recommended to plant potatoes later in areas where tomatoes, peppers and eggplants are planted.
After selecting the area for planting, it is necessary to analyze the composition of the soil. Seed materials must meet the standards and have a healthy germination capacity.
