Potatoes are one of the most profitable crops. In developed countries, the profitability of potato reaches 300%.
In order to yield high profit, proper and advanced technology, timely use of agrochemicals, proper harvesting and storage is essential. Last but not least, proper variety selection is also crucial.
The equipment and technologies demonstrated at the "Potato Festival" held in the Ismayilli district, at the sites of "Buta Group" LLC, are aimed at reducing manual labor of farmers and simplifying the production process.
The event was organized with the sponsorship of Prior Leasing OJSC and the leading agricultural machinery manufacturers CLAAS and GRIMME brands.
CLAAS is a global agricultural machinery manufacturer based in Germany and GIMME offers comprehensive and widest product range in the potato sector.
With the support of sponsors, the festival was attended by farmers from Ismayilli, Tovuz, Gazakh, Gadabay, Masalli, and Jalilabad district, which are the main suppliers of potatoes in the country. The event was also attended by the executive head of Ismayilli district Mirdamed Sadigov and the chairman of the Agrarian Credit and Development Agency Mirza Aliyev.
It was mentioned that currently, potatoes are the second most important crop in Azerbaijan after grain. In order to improve the level of self-sufficiency of potato production and food security, it is essential to use the latest advanced technologies.
The company representatives provided detailed information related to potato harvesters, tractors, cutting machines. The farmers got an opportunity to observe the mentioned equipment on the Buta LLC potato site. Production, storage, and logistics processes have been displayed in the company's workshop and warehouses.
The company representative said that the purpose is to replace manual labor with advanced technology.
The utilization of modern technology will increase productivity consequently, it will enhance the professional and skilled labor force, said that the representative of the Agriculture Ministry.
